The chickens are really not happy with this snow. They don't mind the cold but they refuse to go outside while snow is on the ground. We wanted to move them to a different hoophouse for the next few weeks so they could have some fresh ground to scratch at. But we can't do hardly anything outside right now with so much snow on the ground; much less, move two chicken coops. And it seems there is more snow in the forecast this week. Oh well!
The only colorful thing on the farm right now is Luna in her winter coat.
Expected harvest for this week (choose 6):
some kind of salad green, hopefully
celeriac
parsnips
daikon radishes
watermelon radishes
butternut squash (non-organic, from Silver Queen Farm)
acorn squash (non-organic, from Silver Queen Farm)
onions
shallots
garlic
potatoes (sustainably-grown from Living Acres Farm)
carrots
kale
beets
carrots
kale
