Water flowing INTO our pond after Monday's big rain. Thanks to everyone who has expressed their wish for more rain for us. Looks like we are all set for a while. Now we will have to start mowing again.

We have not done much tilling lately because of the drought, but when we do it looks like the dust bowl.

Parsnip seed heads still shaped like the bin they were dumped out of.

Our second pond is almost empty. Earlier this week I compared rain totals from May 1 - mid August 2020 (an extremely dry growing season) to the same period this year. The results: 2020: ~9 inches.
2022: ~8 inches. This is definitely the driest year we have had in our 20 years of farming.

Bella had some fun with a basket of kale bunches.

After the thunderstorms at market on Thursday the tablecloths and tent were set out to dry - alas no rain at the farm!

Tell us what you think of this new red carrot variety. It has been growing great and looks beautiful. Red carrots don't seem to be as sweet as orange carrots though. It has been great to have the Purple Haze carrot seed available again; it has been missing for a few years and it is one our favorite varieties.

Keeping the watermelon radish seeds moist so they can germinate.

Have you tried the dry beans from Seneca Bean and Grain? Great organic and locally grown beans!

We have goats again. Well not really. We are borrowing our friends two bucks to help clean out our hedgerows. The hedgerows have really grown up in brush over the last couple years since we no longer have goats.
