mulched beds of celeriac

flail mowing a stand of yellow clover cover crop. These beds will be tarped and later in the summer they will be planted with crops for fall and winter harvest.
installing trellis for the Blue Coco pole beans we grow for Fedco Seeds

This butterfly is on the sugar snap peas we experimented with this year. It has been many years since we tried growing peas. We decided long ago to stop trying to grow peas because of the difficulty of harvesting them and disease problems. We have solved the harvesting issue but apparently not the disease. After growing healthy for weeks they are now are yellowing and dying. Ah well it was a valiant effort and nice to get at least a small crop of peas before the plants die completely.

Expected harvest for Week 3 (small share choose 6, large share choose 8)

  • garlic scapes
  • sugar snap peas
  • green beans
  • summer squash
  • zucchini
  • cabbage
  • strawberries (conventionally grown from Silver Queen Farm in Trumansburg - counts as 2 items now since the price on strawberries is higher this year)
  • broccoli
  • chard
  • baby carrots
  • kale
  • beets
  • parsley
  • lettuce heads (green and red)
  • lettuce mix
  • spicy mix
  • daikon radishes
  • salad turnips
  • scallions
