There will be no Corning Farmers' Market tomorrow. For those of you who normally pick up your share on Thursdays, you are welcome to pick it up on Friday at the farm from Noon-Dark, at the Ithaca Farmers Market on Saturday (limited selection) or Sunday at the Chamberlain Acres Farmers Market (11am-3pm). Or you can double up next week.
Thanks for your understanding. Hopefully it actually snows and we did not cancel for nothing.

Washing radishes in the root washer.

Goodbye tomatoes, we will miss you!

For the first time in the history of our CSA we must stop taking on new CSA shares for the Fall/Winter CSA. We have over 30 shares which is way more than we have ever had before. To ensure that we have a good selection of produce to last through mid-February we have decided to close the CSA to new members for the rest of the winter season. We will begin taking on new shares for the 2023 CSA season sometime later this winter. Thank you so much to everyone who has already signed up and made this Fall/Winter CSA season such a success.

Market update for Thanksgiving week:
We will be at the Watkins Glen Thanksgiving Market on Tuesday November 22 3:30-6:30 at Watkins Glen Performing Arts Center
The Corning Farmers' Market will be on Wednesday November 23 10:00-2:00 at the Marconi Lodge.
Ithaca Farmers' Market as usual on Saturday 10:00-2:00
Chamberlain Acres Market as usual on Sunday 11:00-3:00

We ask for your forgiveness. If you are finding bugs in your kale (aphids) or leeks (allium leaf miner) we do apologize. We know they are a problem.

Cleaning Blue Coco bean seeds. (The pods are purple-blue, not the seeds)

Using a projector to trace our farm name on our new tent (which looks just like our old tent)

Please remember to vote. Early voting is open through Sunday.

We do not plan to do a weekly newsletter through the fall and winter. But please check back for occasional updates from the farm.

We still have low-income Fall/Winter CSA shares available. So please let anyone know who you think might be interested.

Here is the winter farmers' market schedule we will be attending:
Corning at Marconi Lodge: Thursday 10:00-2:00
Ithaca Farmers Market: Saturday 10:00-2:00
On-Farm: Friday Noon-Dark
Chamberlain Acres Farmers' Market in Elmira: Sunday 11:00-3:00

Your farmers enjoyed some time off during a weekend at Ocean City, NJ. We had a great time in the sand and surf and eating junk food on the boardwalk.

We will be hosting a farm open house for the Farm Trail Weekend on September 24 from 9 am-5 pm. Sorry I don't have a link for this. Lots of farms are participating in Schuyler County. I'm sure more info is available on social media.

We will hosting a heat smart open house on Sunday September 18 2-5 pm. Find out about air source heat pumps, heat pump hot water heaters, insulation and induction stoves. www.heatsmartflxsouth.org. Save money while helping to fight climate change.

Follow the link for the flyer for our Fall/Winter CSA. Print it out and mail in with your check or pay at market.

We have not done much tilling lately because of the drought, but when we do it looks like the dust bowl.

Parsnip seed heads still shaped like the bin they were dumped out of.

Our second pond is almost empty. Earlier this week I compared rain totals from May 1 - mid August 2020 (an extremely dry growing season) to the same period this year. The results: 2020: ~9 inches.
2022: ~8 inches. This is definitely the driest year we have had in our 20 years of farming.

After the thunderstorms at market on Thursday the tablecloths and tent were set out to dry - alas no rain at the farm!

Tell us what you think of this new red carrot variety. It has been growing great and looks beautiful. Red carrots don't seem to be as sweet as orange carrots though. It has been great to have the Purple Haze carrot seed available again; it has been missing for a few years and it is one our favorite varieties.
