The dragon tongues are really kicking into high gear now.

A couple of the onions that did not rot. We have had two major crop failures this year: potatoes (due to rotting and an unexpected outbreak of leafhoppers) and onions, leeks and shallots (due to rotting from excessive cold and moisture last spring). This will be a major impact on our sales through winter. We will try to have enough for the CSA though. Very frustrating! We have learned a couple things to help in the future: We need to plant even later than we did this year. A couple more weeks in the spring will help the soil warm and dry up. And we need gutters on our hoophouses. When we have excessive rainfall, water rushes off the roof and runs into the nearby beds, some of which were onions, leeks and shallots this year.
