My favorite wildflower, purple asters. They go beautifully with the goldenrod.

This week we finally were forced to put together our irrigation system. It seems crazy to have to be putting it together in late September but we still have many crops in the ground that need water.

One thing we have done well this year is get our cover crops planted on time. Its kind of hard to see in this photo but these are nice beds of rye and vetch cover crop with clover paths.

Okay, we have finalized our plans for our fall/winter CSA. We have made a couple changes this year. First of all, we have decided to change the CSA to a simple pre-pay program. Instead of having a fixed number of items each week, members just pre-pay and come to market and pick out the products they want. We will include the same 15% discount for those who join that we have with the regular season CSA. The amount that each member pre-pays will be up to them to decide.

Second, we will plan to have the following market schedule:
Corning Farmers' Market in the Information Center every other Saturday beginning November ? (hmmm...not sure - I need to check if it is Nov. 1 or 8)

Watkins Glen Farmers' Market at St. James Episcopal every other Friday beginning November ? (depends when the Corning Market starts)

Ithaca Farmers' Market every Saturday (on the lake through Christmas and at The Space@Greenstar in January and February)

Here are the crops we plan to have available:

Beets, Brussels Sprouts, Carrots, Celeriac, Fennel, Garlic, Kale, Leeks, Lettuce, Lettuce Mix, Onions, Parsnips, Potatoes,  Radishes, Rutabegas, Salad Turnips, Spicy Greens Mix, Shallots, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Winter Squash

The fall/winter CSA will run from November through February as in years past.
