Pick your own, or pick your own picked for you, or what?

A late addition to the week's share list....ta, ta, tada... green beans! They are from our hoop house, and so they are very early! If you purchased a pick your own picked for you share, we will be bringing them to market for you. If you purchased a basic share, feel free to come on up to the farm and pick a quart or two. The first time you come, please email or call so we can show you around, after that, you may come any time to pick dawn to dusk. If you are in doubt about which share you purchased, get in touch and we'll let you know.

If you make the trip make sure to pick strawberries, too, at one of the local upick farms, and within the next few days, i'm guessing the cherry picking places will open up, too. We picked about 35 pounds of them strawberries today and so we'll be making jam and/or freezing them tonight or tomorrow morning.

Happy eating! Liz

Liz, here is the recipe we talked about at the market today. I have done it twice now and once added chicken and once with chick peas to bulk it up and it was a great recipe!!
Happy eating and see you next week

Can you recommend a strawberry picking place near the farm?

sorry for the delay eric, we are lucky to have two local places, and word on the street is that neither of them spray their berries! Church Street produce in burdett, go up 79 into burdett and you can't miss the signs, its on church street, they charge by the quart, it was $2.50 per to pick your own the other day when i drove by.

The other one is toward Trumansburg, and is SilverQueen farm, take Searsburg Rd (county rt. 1) and turn on stillwell rd. There are signs to this one, too. We picked last tuesday, it was $1.50 per pound. Both places are a great deal and so much fun. Silver queen also does u-pick raspberries, black berries, and peaches. I'm not sure what else church street produce has.

the season is going to be winding down soon, so don't delay too long. i know silverqueen is open 8-8 everyday, not sure of church street hours off hand. Hope that helps! liz
